Sue Cejka has spent the entirety of her career in healthcare executive search. After four years with a regional firm, she started her own company, Cejka & Company, in 1981. What started as a one-woman firm had, by 1998, grown into the second largest healthcare executive search firm in the country. When a publicly held healthcare company acquired the firm, Sue joined Korn Ferry as a Senior Client Partner at the helm of a new St. Louis office.
Having a strong preference for boutique firms specializing in healthcare, Sue left Korn Ferry in 2003 and purchased a small search firm named Grant Cooper which had historically focused on industries outside of healthcare. Two years after Sue purchased the firm, Grant Cooper was named to Modern Healthcare’s list of top healthcare search firms and has remained on the list since 2005.
Sue is the only person in the country who has founded and led two of the top 10 healthcare executive search firms. As one of the most respected and visible leaders in healthcare executive search for more than 40 years, Sue has served as a core faculty member of the American Academy of Physician Executives, The Governance Institute, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
