Vice Chair Of Academics | Greenville Health System (GHS)

Greenville Health System

  • Location: Greenville, SC

Greenville Health System (GHS) is a public not-for-profit academic health system committed to health care delivery, workforce education and development, and clinical research. Over the last 100 years, the organization has evolved from a single freestanding hospital to a highly integrated delivery system and now an academic medical center with teaching and research programs and a broad academic mission. In that time, GHS has become the state’s largest not-for-profit healthcare system and an advocate for healthy living initiatives. We are a health resource for our community and a leader in transforming the delivery of health care for the benefit of the people and communities we serve. With seven campuses, 1,662 beds, and 1,369 affiliated and employed medical staff (818 employed physicians), GHS provides comprehensive health care for the 10-county Upstate region of South Carolina and beyond, serving as both the “safety net” hospital and the major provider of specialty services in the region.

Position Overview

GHS is seeking a highly productive, driven, forward thinking academic leader to plan and lead efforts that position the Department of Medicine and the Health System to achieve the multi-year goals noted above, thus transforming health care on a regional and national basis. This individual will lead a rapidly growing Department of Medicine expanding its academic footprint. This will include expansion of clinical training programs, building infrastructure to support an environment of scholarly curiosity, supporting the educational mission of the pre-medical experience programs, medical student education, graduate medical education and continuing medical education, developing faculty in academic pursuits and securing grant funding to support the academic mission of the health system.
