The University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine seeks a Palliative Care Director who will lead the Palliative Care Team efforts at the Keck Medical Center and Norris Cancer Hospitals. The Palliative Care Team provides care to the medically complex, diverse patients seen at the Keck Medical Center of USC and the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center through an inpatient consultation service, an outpatient clinic, and a GIP hospice program. Reporting to the Chief of the Division of Geriatric, Hospital, Palliative and General Internal Medicine, this Director will have the opportunity make a significant impact on the direction and growth of Keck Medicine’s palliative care program.
The USC Palliative Medicine and Supportive Care program has a core mission of providing culturally sensitive clinical care through skilled communication, expert symptom management and consultative collaboration. Teaching is a priority and Palliative Medicine faculty provide core education for all levels of medical training. The program is integrated into the Keck School of Medicine Curriculum, the Department of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency program and provides training to rotating fellows within the departmental training programs. The Palliative Care team also provides training to rotating fellows from other clinical departments such as Psychiatry, Neurology, and Emergency Medicine. We offer a multitude of opportunities for teaching, research, and community engagement.
The individual chosen for this position will receive an academic appointment at the University of Southern California and be based in the Keck School of Medicine, Department of Medicine in the Division of Geriatric, Hospital, Palliative and General Internal Medicine.
Education and Experience
- MD or equivalent degree. Fellowship training and board certification (or eligibility) in hospice and palliative medicine.
- Possessing or able to obtain full, unrestricted licensure to practice medicine in California.
- Depth of training and experience in all aspects of patient care related to hospice and palliative medicine.
- Academic credentials commensurate with an academic appointment at USC Keck School of Medicine.
