Geisinger is an integrated health services organization widely recognized for its innovative use of the electronic health record and the development of innovative care delivery models such as ProvenHealth Navigator, ProvenCare and ProvenExperience. As one of the nation’s largest health service organizations, Geisinger serves more than 3 million residents throughout 45 counties in central, south-central and northeast Pennsylvania, and also in southern New Jersey at AtlantiCare, a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient. The physician-led system is comprised of approximately 30,000 employees, including nearly 1,600 employed physicians, 13 hospital campuses, two research centers, and a 583,000-member health plan, all of which leverage an estimated $12.7 billion positive impact on the Pennsylvania and New Jersey economies. Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) is an acute/tertiary hospital and regional referral center serving the healthcare needs of northeastern Pennsylvania. GWV houses the only Level II trauma center in Luzerne County. GWV is licensed for 297 beds, sees approximately 2,300 trauma visits per year, and hosts a roof top helipad to receive the most critically injured patients.
Geisinger is seeking a Director of Otolaryngology to oversee ENT services at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV). The Director will be housed at the newly renovated GWV ENT clinic, conveniently attached to the main hospital. The $1.7 million renovation expands the program, allowing for multiple providers to work at the same time with improved flow and patient throughput. The space has an administrative suite, 13 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, and an audiology suite that includes a videonystagmography/stroboscopy room, two audiology booth rooms, and a hearing aid room. The Director of Otolaryngology at GWV coordinates care as necessary across Geisinger. S/he must maintain a comprehensive and long-range system-wide view of Geisinger’s strategic plan as it pertains to ENT services. S/he will constantly seek to identify and take advantage of opportunities to improve the general health and wellness of those served by Geisinger. Additionally, the Director of Otolaryngology at GWV must clearly and effectively articulate the goals, directions, mission, critical issues, and values of Geisinger to the Associates and employees who work within the GWV ENT clinic and its related areas. S/he must effectively communicate the opinions, concerns, and suggestions of Associates and employees to department, campus, and system leadership. The Director of Otolaryngology at GWV will provide strong leadership, expanding the GWV’s clinical program, assist in recruiting high caliber talent into the organization, and promoting quality of care.
