As part of this top 100 health system, Geisinger Lewistown provides inpatient, outpatient, wellness and community services across specialties including internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, rheumatology, medical oncology, podiatry, neurology, cardiology, infectious disease and general/cardiovascular surgery. The Director will oversee the clinical and administrative growth of 10 Hospitalists and 2 Advanced Practitioners providing inpatient services at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. The Hospital Medicine Program is a significant component of the clinical care provided at Geisinger Lewistown and is expanding its role to provide efficient, quality care to the Lewistown community. The role within Hospital Medicine will provide an excellent opportunity to expand the clinical program in a system dedicated to improving care. The Director’s role will encompass a wide spectrum of clinical activities and collaboration with subspecialty care. As the Hospital Medicine Department is an integral component of the delivery of inpatient medical care, the Director will actively participate in opportunities to develop clinical research and lead quality patient centered initiatives.
Geisinger Lewistown is seeking a charismatic and forward-thinking Director to plan and lead efforts that position Geisinger Lewistown and the Geisinger Health System to achieve these multi-year goals, thus transforming health care on a regional and national basis. Working with system leadership, this individual will provide expertise to improve and sustain high-quality clinical outcomes, reduce costs, length of stay, and resource utilization, maintain the highest in patient satisfaction scores and improve retention of hospitalist providers. This position serves as a role model for ethical behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive, ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Geisinger Health System. In addition, the Director of Hospital Medicine is responsible for results-oriented, strategic leadership to ensure the clinical, operational and financial performance of the hospital medicine division at Geisinger Lewistown.
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Dual-degree (MD/MBA; MD/MHA) or equivalent business experience preferred.

- Successful track record in recruiting, mentoring and teaching physicians.
- Professional competence and ethical standards, serving as a role model.
- Experience in building and sustaining a successful hospital medicine program.
