Southcoast HealthThe total joint reconstruction position is available at Southcoast Health in Fall River, MA is a not-for-profit, community-based health system with multiple access points, offering an integrated continuum of health services throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Our system includes four hospitals — Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River (founded in 1885), St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford (founded in 1884) and Tobey Hospital in Wareham (founded in 1938). These hospitals merged on June 9, 1996 to form Southcoast Hospitals Group and operate under a single hospital license, with a total of 815 beds. Southcoast Health now also includes Southcoast Behavioral Health in Dartmouth. In addition to its hospitals and a physician network of more than 450 providers, Southcoast has more than 55 service locations across the South Coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This includes more than 40 physician practices as well as urgent care centers, a Visiting Nurse Association, the Centers for Cancer Care, outpatient surgery centers, and numerous ancillary facilities.

Position Overview

The Southcoast Health Director of the Adult Total Joint Reconstruction Program will work in concert with the Chair of Orthopedic Surgery to spearhead the continued development of the Adult Total Joint Reconstruction Program with a goal of making it a Center of Excellence for patient care in southeastern Massachusetts. The Director will provide clinical and management leadership for the Adult Total Joint Reconstruction Program at all Southcoast affiliated sites. S/he will maintain a comprehensive and long-range system-wide view of Southcoast’s strategic plan. S/he will constantly seek to identify and take advantage of opportunities to improve the general health and wellness of those served by the Southcoast Health System. Additionally, The Director will provide strong leadership, expand the Division’s clinical programs, assist in recruiting high caliber talent into the organization, and promote quality of care. S/he will support the provision of a strong customer service orientation toward patients, partners, and referring community physicians.

Qualifications

  • An MD/DO degree with board certification in Orthopedic Surgery with additional fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and/or Joint Replacement, and an, and an unrestricted state medical license.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to advance and develop a superior clinical service.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences, in group settings or one-on-one.
  • Expertise in establishing physician relationships combined with the ability to manage an interdisciplinary team while appreciating and fostering collegial and peer participation from all disciplines.
  • Effective supervisory skills, including clinical mentoring and coaching expertise.
  • Advocate for organizational values and commitment to gender equity and diversity.
