Position Overview

Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a child neurologist to serve as Medical Director of the Epilepsy service. This clinical position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research within the Department of Neurology at VCU.

As part of a thriving academic medical center, VCU faculty educate learners from multiple disciplines, including residents in Neurology.  The successful candidate will be expected to pursue scholarly activities and research interests, as well as to contribute meaningfully to the goals of the department, the organization, the community, and the larger field of Neurology. Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills are essential. This clinical faculty member must demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a team environment, with leadership skills and experience preferred. They also will be expected to foster a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment as an engaged and valued faculty member at VCU. Successful candidates will have an MD or DO and will be board certified or board eligible. The position is open tenure and open rank.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology with a special qualification in Child Neurology.
  • Completion of accredited Child Neurology and Epilepsy training programs.
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, education and clinical research.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
