The Bone and Joint Institute has 10 operating rooms, 60 patient care rooms, and dedicated ambulatory care space. This ambitious project positions Bone and Joint Institute to be the acknowledged, regional leader for the provision of musculoskeletal care.
Reporting dually to the Chief of Medicine of Hartford Hospital and the Physician-In-Chief of BJI, the Chief of Rheumatology will proactively identify opportunities to improve overall safety, quality, and satisfaction, increase volume, and elevate the reputation of the department and organization. The Chief of Rheumatology will be a clinical Rheumatologist and will hold overall responsibility for provider quality and — in partnership with primary care, orthopedic, and hospital based physicians — overall department performance. The Chief is expected to work alongside the Bone and Joint Institute’s Physician-In-Chief and Department Chief. System leadership supports the goal of building a Rheumatology Center of Excellence in concert with Bone and Joint Institute that is poised for growth. The position is expected to involve 50% direct patient care and 50% administrative responsibilities.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution with board certification in rheumatology and internal medicine.
- Experience in academics and medical education.
- Ability to mentor rising clinicians with a commitment to clinical education.
