Piedmont Macon North Hospital is a 103-bed community hospital nestled in the Georgia pines and offers expertise in a variety of specialties, including orthopedic care, spine care, bariatric surgery, and gastric reflux disease. Piedmont Macon North was established in 1984 by Charter Medical Corporation as Charter Northside Hospital. In 1993, Quorum, a Nashville, Tennessee-based hospital management company, purchased 13 medical-surgical hospitals from Charter Medical, including Northside. In 1998, Quorum and HCA merged Coliseum Medical Centers and Macon Northside Hospitals to provide our community with better access to quality healthcare.
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for the coordination and monitoring of nursing standards and practice throughout the hospitals and collaborates with, through a matrixed relationship, nurse managers in non-nursing division center of excellence practice areas and all areas of the Hospitals where nursing and patient care is practiced. The CNO will also Indirectly supervise all nursing personnel in Division of Nursing for both campuses and has the responsibility for the administration of the Division of Nursing, defining, and maintaining standards of nursing practice and patient care management within the Hospitals. He or she is responsible for the formulation and implementation of operational policies and procedures necessary to meet these objectives. Currently, the Division of Nursing includes nursing practice of Cardiovascular units, all aspects of Critical Care, Extended Care, Inpatient and Occupational Rehabilitation, Intermediate Care, Medical/Surgical, Neuroscience, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Renal Transplant, Enterostomal Therapy and Community Clinical Case Management.
Reporting to the CEO of Piedmont Macon Medical Center, Steve Daugherty, the CNO will focus on leading, collaborating, integrating, facilitating, and evaluating to develop and support the systems necessary for professional nursing practice. He or she will collaborate with other executives in the hospitals to make decisions that impact service outcomes across all settings. This professional will collaborate with other professionals to maintain patient care standards that align with Piedmont Healthcare’s mission, vision, and values. The Chief Nursing Officer will be specifically responsible for directing and monitoring patient care standards carried out by hospital nurses.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with master’s degree in nursing or related field is required
- Participation in professional organizations and involvement in civic/community agencies
- Ten or more years of experience in progressively responsible operational, executive, and or nursing management positions within a hospital or health system
- Licensed Registered Nurse (or the ability to obtain licensure) in the state of Georgia
- Master’s degree from a recognized college or university in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field
