    The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital is the health system’s flagship facility. Moses Cone Hospital is a 628-bed teaching hospital and referral center. It includes a Children’s Emergency Department, Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center (maternity services), Level II Trauma Center and services including neurosciences, stroke, and heart and vascular care.  In 2018, Moses Cone Hospital was named a Comprehensive Stroke Center. In addition to outstanding stroke care, Cone Health was recognized for exceptional quality in neurosurgery and spine care in 2019, with Becker’s Hospital Review rating it among the 100 best in the nation in these areas of care. Moses Cone Hospital ranks in the top 1% of the nation for medical excellence in neurological care, according to CareChex. In 2019, the Heart & Vascular Center at Moses Cone Hospital enlarged one of nine catherization labs to increase patient access for advanced heart surgeries. The cath labs now perform about 7,000 procedures per year.  In 2020, the Cone Health Women’s & Children’s Center opened at Moses Cone Hospital, with 45-bed private NICU rooms offering the first in the state couplet care.

    Position Overview:

    The Chief Clinical Officer will be responsible for transformation and innovation across the health system.  This transformation commits the organization to build a market-relevant, comprehensive and integrated clinical and physician enterprise as the centerpiece of the health system.  The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is responsible for leading operations across the clinically integrated continuum of care including Triad HealthCare Network, Cone Health Medical Group and Cone Health medical staff. This position will ensure the strategic positioning for Cone Health, focusing on the growth and the development of the systems of care. This executive is accountable for spearheading clinical initiatives aimed at maximizing the efficiency of clinical operations, improving patient service, and enhancing quality and safety outcomes.  This strategy represents a major change for Moses Cone that will require a multi-year transformation. The Chief Clinical Officer will be responsible for leading and managing the key aspects of this enterprise and journey as an integral member of the System’s executive team.

    Qualifications:

    • Required: MD degree; License (or license eligible) to practice medicine in North Carolina.
    • Highly regarded clinician, including MD or DO, with a board certification in a clinical specialty.
    • MBA, MHA or equivalent degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of successful executive leadership experience with depth in several of the clinical and physician enterprise functions.
    • Experience within a pluralistic physician ecology.
    • A demonstrated successful record of accomplishment that includes:
      • Building, leading and collaborating as a member of teams.
      • Working effectively in a matrix environment.
      • Leading and managing transformational change.
    • Participation in national industry fora, with leadership roles preferred
