Commonwealth Care Alliance is a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare organization dedicated to improving care for individuals who are dually eligible for MassHealth (Medicaid) and Medicare with complex medical, behavioral health and social needs, including those with disabilities. With more than 32,000 members, CCA offers two plans: Senior Care Options (HMO SNP), for individuals ages 65 and older who have Medicare and MassHealth Standard or only MassHealth Standard; and One Care, a Massachusetts demonstration program for dual eligible individuals ages 21 to 64. In addition to its health plans, CCA offers a provider arm: Commonwealth Community Care centers. These care centers include three primary care, disability-competent community care centers, two community-based Crisis Stabilization Units, and a health innovation accelerator in partnership with Winter Street Ventures. Depending on each patient’s needs and abilities, Commonwealth Community Care may provide care in the patient’s home or in one of several specially equipped, accessible care practices. Staff are available 24/7 and coordinate care as needed with the patient’s preferred services and providers, as well as with the people in their life.
The Medical Director, Commonwealth Community Clinics will be responsible for a cohort of 4 FTE physicians and 30 FTE nurse practitioners to coordinate and expand healthcare services in an innovative approach. This role will work cross-functionally within the clinic setting and across the organization, with other medical directors, clinical directors, quality professionals, and finance professionals to ensure the optimal functioning of the clinic and the sharing of information about the clinics across the enterprise. She or he will be a representative of Commonwealth Community Clinics to partnering institutions such as health centers, teaching hospitals, and other clinical settings.
The ideal candidate will offer:
- MD or DO degree, with active board certification in internal medicine, medicine/pediatrics, or family medicine
- Master’s degree (MBA, MPH, MPP, MMM) preferred.
- Leadership background in a primary care clinic, FQHC, clinic practice, or other ambulatory health center setting
- Demonstrated history of successful practice operation: experience with practice improvement methods, use of financial and other metrics
- Ability to manage (in conjunction with practice administration) revenues and expenses to develop and manage to target for growth, quality, patient and provider satisfaction, and financial performance.
- Proven ability to recruit and provide leadership to physicians and advance practice clinicians.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead teams, solve problems collaboratively, but willingness to make hard decisions when necessary.
- Passion to meet the needs of underserved patient populations and commitment to act on social determinants of health
