For more than 50 years, a combination of hard work, innovation, and a vision for excellence has made Duke Respiratory Care Services (RCS) a pacesetter for the respiratory care profession nationally. Team members come from more than 25 states and several foreign countries. One hundred percent of the clinical staff is credentialed as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Respiratory care services are provided at all three of Duke Health’s hospitals.
The Director of Respiratory Care Services is responsible for overall functions of clinical patient care including quality, operations, and efficiency in the delivery of respiratory services across Duke Health. The Director will work closely with Duke University Health System’s Respiratory Care Departments and Pulmonary Function Labs to plan, direct, and monitor performance and improvement initiatives while providing overall direction and leadership. The Director will also provide the essential partnership between RCS and DUHS faculty. This leader will be responsible for driving efficiency, recruiting team members, sharing best practices and continuing to excel in academic productivity.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care or a related health science, and a Master’s Degree in Business/Clinical Leadership or Administration.
- 5-8 years related work experience is required, including a minimum of 3 years supervisory and management experience at the Director level.
- Experience or certification in one or more specialty areas of Respiratory Care (e.g., critical care, neonatal care, or pulmonary function testing), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience, is preferred.
- Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and become licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (following hire).
